Karpov, Rublevsky, Svidler and Others Will Give Simul at Aeroflot Open

The RCF website reports that the simultaneous exhibition planned to take place on February 15th will be held for 90 junior players. Anatoly Karpov, Alexander Grischuk, Sergey Karjakin, Peter Svidler, Dmitry Andreikin, Wang Hao, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Ian Nepomniachtchi and Sergey Rublevsky are among those who will play against children.

  • The final of the Aeroflot Open rapid tournament will be held on February 16-17. It will gather 16 participants: 8 players qualified from the knockout tournament and 8 invited stars. We have published the names of the starry players earlier, those are Alexander Grischuk, Peter Svidler, Dmitry Andreikin, Sergey Karjakin, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Wang Hao and Shakhriyar Mamedyarov. The eighth invited player will be Anatoly Karpov.   

  • The mass blitz tournament Aeroflot Open starts today. Anyone who has registered and paid the entry fee can participate. There will be 9 rounds with each player playing with white and black against his paired opponent. Seven starry players of the comeptition are GMs Alexander Grischuk, Peter Svidler, Dmitry Andreikin, Sergey Karjakin, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Wang Hao and Shakhriyar Mamedyarov.

  • The opening ceremony of the new festival with an old name Aeroflot Open will be held today at 20:00 MSK time (17:00 CET). The dates are as usually chosen so that the participants of Moscow Open are able to play at another open competition right after finishing the first one.

  • The website of the Russian Chess Federation reports the results of the computer draw which was held right after the main part of the Superfinal was finished. The additional competition with the time control 15+10 will be held tomorrow at 13:00. It gathered six players:

  • The Russian Chess Federation which organizes Aeroflot Open 2013 decided to change the format of the festival. The changes made are so complicated that we offer you the schedule of the festival published on the RCF website at full:

  • Emil Sutovsky announced another eight participants of the ACP Cup which will take place in Riga from September 12th-15th live on Chess-News radio:

  • The tournament will be held in the "Olympic Patio"

  • Eventually it turns out that GM Vassily Ivanchuk accepted the invitation and will play in the ACP Cup which is scheduled to take place from September 12th to 15th in Riga, Latvia. This was announced by Emil Sutovsky on his Facebook page. Earlier Sutovsky and Shirov said Ivanchuk declined the invitation.  

  • The website osetiasportivnaya.ru publsihed the list of top-30 rapid players. Let us remind you that such ratings were officially introduced a year ago, however, FIDE still hasn't made a rapid rating list yet.
