Deputy of Knesset (Israeli parliament) Rina Frankel appealed to the General Director of the Post Office with the initiative to issue postage stamps in honor of Boris Gelfand, as announced by the website cursorinfo.il.

According to the deputy, the stamps in honor of the World Championship Match in Moscow, where Gelfand fought for the crown against Anand, have been released in numerous countries, including Guinea-Bissau, but not in Israel.

"I believe that our country has what and who to be proud of. Over the recent years great achievements have been made in sports, we have a new generation of future Olympians growing. It seems to me that, apart from beautiful flowers, we can also produce stamps with portraits of famous athletes and artists, and to begin with, stamps with a portrait of Boris Gelfand. I think these stamps will adorn the collection of many philatelists of the world and will help to improve the image of our country.", - quotes the edition of Frankel.

No answer has been received from the Post Office yet.
