GMs Krasenkov and Hammer faced each other inthe penultimate round of the Rilton Cup taking place in Stockholm. Black practically had no problems; Krasenkov decided to draw by sacrificing the piece and giving a perpetual check.

HAMMER - KRASENKOV

34...Bxg3 35.Kxg3 Qe5+ 36.Kg2 Qg5+ 37.Kf1 Qf4?? A blunder that is hard to explain. Maybe Mikhail just mixed the line with 37.Kh1, and then Black really should play 37...Qf4. Instead he had to check from the other side: 37...Qb5+ 38.Ke1 (38.Kg2 Qg5+) 38...Qxb4+ and so on.
38.Be2 Hammer did technical play well 1-0

Hammer's another challenger Nils Grandelius also lost. Thus, Norwegian is half a point ahead of Sergei Volkov and a point ahead of Goganov, Piorun and Grandelius.
