Magnus Carlsen failed to beat virtual... Carlsen (VIDEO) "I think I'm in the start of my prime"

Magnus Carlsen played against the computer program with the strength of "14-year-old Carlsen." He did so to present how the chess app he launched is working.

Tarjei J. Svensen shot a video which shows that the machine made moves immediately; eventually it beat Carlsen who sacrificed a piece on move 16 for show. The world champion finished the game simply saying, "OK, I lost."

The real, not digital 14-year-old Magnus didn't think he could become the strongest chess player in the world. First time such thoughts crossed his mind when he was 16-17, Magnus told about this in his interview to Esquire

"At that point, it was about taking the step from being a participant in the best tournaments in the world to being one of the guys who could win it, who could be pressing in games instead of defending. I felt that the best players in the world were not that much better than me, and I had the chance to surpass them all.

[...] I really enjoy the experience of playing humans. The psychological game is so much more important. I try to put pressure on other players, both at the board and psychological pressure by playing quickly and confidently.

I think that's the case for most of the best players in the world. We have that confidence. When we're at our best, no one can beat us. It's a pretty nice feeling."

According to Magnus he continues leaning and plans to become even a stronger player at some point. "I think I'm in the start of my prime."
