Pentala Harikrishna Joins Novy Bor Team At the Next Club Cup in Bilbao

One of the strongest Czech GMs Viktor Laznicka and Alexei Shirov will play a classical 6-game match in Novy Bor in the beginning of August.

Less than two months remains until the start of the European Club Cup. The event runs in Skopje from 17 to 25 October.

As it turned out the Vietnamese women's team is not going to play at the Women's World Team Chess Championship scheduled to take place in Astana, Kazakhstan. Practically the Vietnamese team is the one instead of which Georgian team has been allowed to participate in the championship.

The European Club Cup among men and women starts the day after tomorrow, October 11th in Eilat, Israel. The women's section gathered only 8 teams, which will determine the strongest in the round-robin competition. 
The composition of the teams and other materials regarding the tournament

Today in Sochi the participants arrive for the Russian team Championships for men and women. The line-up for Sibir (Novosibirsk) can be regarded as a real sensation: its top two boards are Vladimir Kramnik and Levon Aronian. The team also includes Pavel Maletin, Dmitry Jakovenko, Wang Yue, Anton Korobov, Dmitry Bocharov and Dmitry Kokarev.

It is worth recalling Kramnik's words in his interview on our website in September 2013: 

One of the strongest Russian clubs Yugra is not breaking up. This was announced by the captain of the team Alexander Khalifman. The future of the club was under question after several relatively failing performances at the European competitions; however, the agreement on the further cooperation was approved on the last meeting of the board. Yugra will participate in the upcoming Russian Championship which is scheduled to take place on April, 2013. The compesition of the team will undergo some changes. 

The new captain of the national team of Azerbaijan will be decided in autumn of this year at a meeting of the Azeri Chess Federation. According to azerisport.com, the head of the Federation Elman Rustamov will consider candidatures before making the final decision. Let us recall that the federation did not extend the contract with Vladimir Tukmakov, who has been leading the national team from April 2011 to September 2012.
