The 1st stage of the FIDE Grand Prix series 2014/15 is over. The closing ceremony has taken place in the Mugam Club, a club which has already become habitual for concluding Baku chess tournaments. According to the local tradition, a closing ceremony and a final banquet take place simultaneously, while the latter is usually paid even more attention.

The officials would leave their tables, rising to the stage from time to time to address the guests with a speech. The participants followed their example soon.

Even though the 1st prize has been shared between Caruana and Gelfand, it was the Italian who has been declared the formal winner due to the larger number of wins.
