According to a Norwegian website dagbladet.no, President of Russia Vladimir Putin is going to attend the World Championship match in Sochi between Magnus Carlsen and Viswanathan Anand. Moreover, he is likely to make the first move in the match. Some time ago, the Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg has declined similar invitation to Sochi due to a number of sanctions imposed upon Russia.

"WIll you shake hands with Vladimir Putin?", the Dagbladet journalist asked the world champion on Monday.

"It's a hypothetical question", Carlsen replied. "The only thing I can say is that I am going to Sochi for the other purpose than making noise".

"Magnus will be there to play chess, not politics. The focus will be on Anand and the match. Regarding anything else, he will just behave in a normal way", Carlsen's manager Espen Agdestein told the Norwegian newspaper.

According to Dagbladet, it has previously been speculated that Magnus wouldn't like to appear on photos with Vladimir Putin because his western sponsors didn't want him to be associated with Russian President.
