VG Claims Magnus Carlsen Sportsman No.1 In Norway

One of the biggest Norway newspapers VG, according to the tradition, has published its version of the top 100 Norwegian sportsmen of the year. Once again, Magnus Carlsen is number one in the list - for the fourth time already.

The chess king left behind such famous athletes as the 2014 Olympic champion in alpine skiing Kjetil Jansrud, cross country ski star Marit Bjørgen, road bicycle racer Alexander Kristoff, and even the King of Biathlon Ole Einar Bjørndalen who won 2 Olympic gold medals in Sochi at the age of 40.

The official world rating list for November 2014 has been published at the official FIDE website. The top 10 hasn't changed much: Magnus Carlsen is #1 with 2863 Elo points, Fabiano Caruana is the 2nd with 2839 (the distance between him and Carlsen has increased a bit since October), Veselin Topalov is next to Caruana with 2800, and so on.
