The first decisive game of round three of the Russian Superfinal saw the first victory for Vladislav Artemiev, who beat Alexander Motylev.

As early as move 12, Artemiev, by his own admission, "could not resist" a piece sacrifice for two pawns. However, his opponent was not fazed and justifiably considered that he had a large advantage. Even so, fortune favoured the brave.

19...Be6?? Correct is 19...Be7, and if 20.Qe5, only then 20...Be6!
20.Bxe6 fxe6 21.Rxd4, and after three more moves, Motylev resigned. 1-0

For the ex-European Champion, the start to the Superfinal has been catastrophic. Yesterday, Motylev lost as White to Khairullin, also as a result of a one-move blunder in a promising position. "I am sleeping badly..." - explained the victim.
