Kasparov - Short: The First Part of The Blitz Match Ended With the Advantage of The Former World Champion

The first four games of the Blitz Match between Kasparov and Short have just finished. The 13th World Champion had an advantage in all of them but he finally managed to gain a victory only in the fourth game.

  • After the first day of the friendly match between Garry Kasparov and Nigel Short, the Englishman explained that his poor result was due to physical problems, which was affected by jetlag. Short promised to get some sleep, so as to improve his play on the second day. But he did not manage either of these things. "Crush" is the only word one can use to describe what Kasparov did to his opponent on the second day. The ex-world champion won all five games, one rapid and four blitz.  

  • Prior to the successful game against Short, the World Champion hasn't won 12 games in a row
