A young Spanish Grandmaster Ivan Saldago went ahead of veteran American chess player Yasser Seirawan on tie-break (both gathered 5% out of 8) which means he became the winner of the Magistral Casino Barcelona tournament. The third place went to Canadian veteran Kevin Spranggett with 5 points.
As we've reported earlier Eduardo Iturrizaga withdrew the tournament after being envolved in a car accident; so the tournament was held among nine participants.
