The tal Memorial: Round 3 is Over. Morozevich Beat Grischuk in a Thrilling Game to Share First Place With Radjabov

Grischuk - Morozevich was last to end in the 3rd round of the Tal Memorial. Already at move 4 the GMs got an unknown in theory position.

Morozevich avoided the known game Virig - Rublevsky, 2004 by the move 4...Qb6.

The struggle protracted and Morozevich didn't look confident before the first time control.

Black didn't venture to try an interesting continuation 28...g5!, although Morozevich saw it. Grischuk managed to convert his advantage gradually

The culmination of the game happened after a dangerous for black sacrifice of a piece, undertaken by Grischuk, who left himself too little time at this part of the game.

The position stayed pretty tense, so after Morozevich's finding  47...Rd4! Grischuk already didn't have time for finding the best solutions. After 50.h3 (probably 50.Qf3 was more interesting) and 52.Rg1? (obvious was 52.Qe4) black got everything for a win.
