Alexander Grischuk gave an exclusive commentary on his game of Round 4 of the Men's Superfinal to our website. Alexadner's opponent in this round was Nikita Vitiugov.

All of my games in this competition look dreary, the endgames are protracted; but today is an exception: the endgame was on the board right after the opening, it was approximately equal with mutual opportunities. As a result, close to time control I managed to play better and gain an advantage. It's unclear was it enough or not. (It looks like a game against Dubov a bit: there as well after time control a complicated endgame with mutual chances was on the board) I thought that I played brilliantly: sacrificed a pawn and I was ready to sacrifice a piece to checkmate my opponent  with the rook, knight and the pawn. But, as it usually happens, when you are eager to create something in a ordinary position - it doesn't work. So, he found a refutation:

52.Bf5, and white can defend its king from the check with the rook on b1. So, I was forced to start to defend and Nikita simplified my condition by offering a draw. My heart jumped when he offered me a draw, because I was already preparing for a long and tough fight."
