Shakhriyar Mamedyarov told about how he became the leader of Grand Prix

Shakhriyar Mamedyarov gained his fourth win in the Grand Prix London and became the sole leader (earlier Boris Gelfand lost against Alexander Grischuk). The winner gave a detailed commentary on his game to our correspondent Maria Yurenok). .

Shakhriyar MAMEDYAROV - Leinier DOMINGUEZ
According to Shakhriyar he was surprised by his opponent already on move 2: "I wasn't prepared for this opening at all - I think Dominguez never played like this before..."
1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nf3 Bb4+ 4.Nbd2 0-0 5.Qc2 c5 6.dxc5 Bxc5 7.a3 b6 8.b4 Be7 9.Bb2 d6

Here Mamedyarov didn't play in the usual way: 10.g4!?
"This again shows that I can't play secure chess. Honestly, I wouldn't say this was a strong move. I should play calmer: e3, Bd3... There's approximately equal play. While after 10.g4!? Black can even grab advantage if it plays correctly. However, it's not that easy for them to play, that's why Leinier spent so much time.

He blundered in the key moment...

20...d5 21.cxd5 Qxc2 22.Bxc2 Bxd5 The fact is that after 22...Rxc2 23.Rxa8 Rxb2 24.dxe6 fxe6 25.Rd8 the knight is caught and White has a clearly better endgame. This is what he blundered. That's why he shouldn't play 20...d5 - I would stand better in any endgame due to the pawn on g5. I was also very lucky to save the pawn on queenside - it would be very hard to win without it.

...I thought that my win was obvious, but started celebrating too early.

Here I played 30.Nc4? and blundered 30...b5. If I have played a simple 30.Ba3, Black could only resign - there's no defence from Ne4. I complicated the play by moving my knight on c4. It's still uncomfortable position for Black, but I don't know I played so..."
